Noam Chomsky is a very popular political analyst, writer, public figure and linguist from the United States of America. He presented a list of ways in which the government manipulates the human mind through the media.
10. Distract
This method of managing citizens can be called one of the main. The government often distracts people's attention from real problems in the country, offering them not very important messages. This is done in order to prevent the people from being interested in the real problems in the country that are relevant for everyone, as well as to develop, learn something new in the fields of art, science and so on. It is beneficial for the government when people do not think about serious things, but do something insignificant, because it is much easier to manage.
9. Create problems, and then solve them
A certain situation is created, a problem that people will have to react in a certain way. To deal with it, it will take the measures that the government needs. This, for example, the organization of violent terrorist attacks, the promotion of violence in large and small cities. As a result, people demand a policy that infringes on civil liberties: in such situations, citizens want the government to strengthen security measures.
8. Introduce laws gradually
To introduce a law that is not very popular, you can do it gradually: for example, after a few years. In the last century, new socio-economic conditions were imposed on the people in this way. In the late 80s and early 90s, Russia plunged into mass unemployment, instability: as a result, it so happened that people ceased to be confident in the future. Salary has ceased to provide a decent standard of living. Many people still remember this hard time with a shudder.
7. Deferral of execution
One or another solution can be presented as vital. This is usually done so that after some time, citizens agree on something with the government. It is easier to accept sacrifices not in the present, but in the future. Most often, people still hope that later they will be able to avoid the victims, that "tomorrow will be better." If you give them time to morally prepare for change, they always take it much easier: the government uses it very often.
6. Communicate with people as with young children
Very often, government officials communicate with citizens as if people have intelligence problems or serious developmental delays. They select the appropriate words, arguments, a certain intonation, as if talking with unintelligent children. Infantile speech very well helps to mislead listening people, to manipulate them. If you contact a person as if he were a child, it is very likely that there will be no critical assessment on his part: this is characteristic of immature individuals.
5. Emphasize mainly not on thoughts, logic, but on emotions
This technique can be called classic. The government very often uses it in order to prevent citizens from rationally analyzing what is happening and subjecting it to critical reflection. It is also worth noting that influencing people's emotions is a wonderful way to introduce sustainable patterns of behavior, fears, desires and necessary thoughts into their subconscious.
4. Cultivate mediocrity, make people ignorant
One of the main goals of the authorities is to ensure that citizens do not even recognize the methods that are used to manipulate and control people. That is why the state is not profitable for them to be smart. The quality of education that is accessible to most people leaves much to be desired. Representatives of the lower classes simply do not have the opportunity to overcome ignorance and improve their social level: the majority have no money for this. Many of the people do not even want to develop, and why is described in the next paragraph.
3. Make people admire mediocrity
The government aims to ensure that people do not seek development. It's no secret that such citizens are easier to manage. That is why people strive to stupid as much as possible: appropriate films, books, and so on are actively being introduced into society. Many films, for example, are riddled with vulgarity, dullness and bad manners. People get used to living in this atmosphere of stupidity and gradually even begin to lose their human appearance, becoming more like primitive animals.
2. Make citizens guilty of all problems
People are forced to believe that the blame for their problems lies with themselves. Citizens are told that they lack the efforts, talents, and mental capabilities. As a result, it turns out that people do not notice the manipulations of the government, but pay attention exclusively to their own minuses, plunge into despondency and self-digging. Oppressed citizens do nothing in order to change the situation around them, because they are sure that all the troubles are from themselves. In such cases, there can be no talk of revolutionary moods, which is very beneficial for the government.
1. To know more about citizens than they know about themselves
Over the past half century, scientists have made great strides in a wide variety of fields. However, all the most important information received is simply inaccessible to ordinary people: it is owned only by representatives of the upper classes. "System" manages knowledge from the field of applied psychology, neurobiology, and so on, so as to most effectively affect ordinary people. For this reason, citizens most often do not even suspect that they are being controlled using the latest techniques.
